Boxing Showcase presents Gladiator Fight Night

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) -Yesterday was Gladiator Fight Night at the inaugural Buyers 2-B Arena formerly known as the Pan American Ballroom.

Boxers from across the world competed at the boxing showcase.

The boxing promoter Christian Montes wants to turn the arena into an international venue for boxing fans to enjoy by having this type of event.

The name of the boxing showcase was Mexico vs Japan.

The promoter Christian Montes invited a boxer from Japan named Takamu Hossoka to fight against a local boxer named Conrad Martinez.

This match was the highlight of the event in which Conrad Martinez picked up the win.

“Very cool because we bring people to Odessa to know Texas so it is very satisfying that people from the other side of the world can come and say they came to Odessa and what better with a great boxing event.” said promoter for Boxing Showcase Christian Montes.

Some local young talent boxers tested their skills against international boxers.

Gorilla heavy hitter boxer Pedro Martinez believes the knockout win will help him further down in his career.

“This fight means a lot to me because it keeps me going and it wants me to keep going,” said Gorilla Heavy Hitter Boxer Pedro Martinez.

Montes and his colleague Jose Miguel Lopez started the boxing showcase promotion to support young boxers.

The boxing showcase hosted the most boxing events in Texas for two years in a row.

The promotion goal is to allow amateur boxers to compete for a world championship title.

“So, all the youngsters that are with us have a process and our goal is that they become world champions,” said Christian Montes.

Montes says he wants to change the landscape of boxing in West Texas by supporting youth boxing and showing them that anything is possible in their careers.

“We want to reach the youth by supporting them from the gyms by supporting them with amateur tournaments so that they can see that everything is possible with all this and that in the future they will be here fighting in this type of event,” said Christian Montes.

Congratulations to the winners last night!

The Boxing Showcase will be back in May with another boxing event.
